Virtual Booktalks!

Based on the article "The Book Report, Version 2.0: Podcasting on Young Adult Novels" by Robert Rozema (English Journal, September 2007) and our understanding of book talks as learned from Kenneth L. Donelson and Alleen Pace Nilsen's 7th edition of Literature for Today's Young Adults (Allyn and Bacon, 2005), Dr. Carter's YA Lit class is pleased to offer you the following virtual book talks for your viewing pleasure and literary considerations!

*you may have to adjust your volume multiple times*

Ahahhaha! World of Warcraft! I LOVE IT! I would have used the same method had I been knowledgeable about the programs.

Sign in using your e-mail adress and password before you try to post. This way it will automatically put the comment in under your screen name and it won't make you change your password every time you post. Make sure you use the sign in button at the top of the page instead of the one in the posting area.

Hey Mary, I love your video. Great acting and epic music to go along with it. Of course, Mcarty Hall is absolutely *not* infested with plastic mice!!! Good stuff.

OK, I just sent a note to the English department about these being posted and encouraged folks to view them, so don't be surprised if a professor or two leaves a comment or talks to you about them in class. I'll also be forwarding our page to some YA scholars I know so that we can help get the word out about good YA lit!

So, if you've not sent a virtual booktalk in or needed to rework yours, please do get them to me soon.

Hi, I'm a librarian in Vancouver, Washington - I've been working on a similar project collecting book talks by adults as part of an ongoing project. Part of my project will soon involve putting a youtube player on our library's reader's advisory page, with a large collection of book review videos available. Would it be alright if i added some of your videos to my youtube player for use in this way? You can check out some of my videos at http://oneminutecritic.wordpress.com

Hi, lucian. Most all our book talks are posted on either teachertube or through archive.net, so they're essentially ready-made to be shared. So, be our guests, and thanks for leaving us a comment! :)

Speaking of comments, class, we got a mention in the ALAN e-mail newsletter this week! And some other English Education professors have e-mailed me to tell me how informative and entertaining your works were for them! :) :)
