Final Project Summary
Upon request, I'm posting a blog entry where we can share a summary of our final projects. This is an optional post, but I encourage you all to post so that we might have a complete sharing of ideas.

Well, just in case anyone is interested:
My final project was a collection of lesson plans under the thematic heading of, "Getting in Your Head." It is for 11-12 grade students and uses Feed as the focal text. The core issues explored in these plans are the rhetorical devices of symbolism, allegory, and satire; the literary elements of character and authorial intent/purpose; and an exploration of media literacy. We will use supportive texts that include protest songs, propaganda posters, newsclippings, and commercials/advertisements. I think the issue of media literacy is very important, especially since society's definition of "literacy" has broadened to include being able to understand and interpret all forms of communication and infomation.
